The Palestine Solidarity Movement (PSM) is a grassroots collective, uniting activists nationwide in the struggle to end apartheid in Palestine. Our drive is fuelled by a deep commitment to justice, freedom, and the cessation of oppression. While not all of us call Palestine our homeland, our dedication to supporting the Palestinian people’s liberation is unwavering. Our organisers hail from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, including Palestinians and Jews, illustrating the diverse and inclusive nature of our movement. This diversity strengthens our perspective and approach, enabling us to address the complexities of the Israel-Palestine conflict with empathy and insight.

Untwin Bournemouth from Apartheid NowÂ
In 1995, Bournemouth Council, before the days of the unitary authority, became one of a very small number of UK councils choosing to twin with a town or city in Israel.
In light of the current horrific events in the Gaza Strip, and in view of the atrocious treatment of Palestinians in the West Bank on a daily basis where there is no “war,” it is time to end, or at the very least suspend, this shameful alliance.
Unbelievably, the decision to twin our town with another in an apartheid state came just five years after the collapse of the apartheid regime in South Africa. It was, therefore, a decision that flew in the face of the spread of progressive values represented by the liberation of the majority Black population in South Africa from the oppressive regime they had endured under the minority White rule.
For over 25 years, Bournemouth residents have marched, signed petitions, and submitted letters to the council and Twinning Committee, but until now, they have been ignored.
Do the right thing, untwin from apartheid.
